Update 01/05/2013 – Website deleted; we have created a brand new website to talk about SnapChats Leaked and why we’re not doing it.
SnapChatsLeaked was first intentionally made for users to share funny SnapChats that were suppose to be deleted after a few seconds. Our Facebook page went viral hours and unfortunately it got shut down.
We attracted over 500k likes in the first 20 hours which was crazy. Our website allowed users to share funny images instantly for everyone to see however it got to the point where it was getting silly and the media got involved and unfortunately I don’t have time for that, that is why this website is all about ‘SnapChat Leaked’. So you can hear our story before judging us like the media. All the people who submitted the photos were just doing silly stuff just to get featured, majority of the users were actually themselves.
I would like to make clear that the purpose wasn’t revenge; merely fun. When our website was up and running so you could submit SnapChat Photos, if someone sent in a picture to be malicious we did not tolerate it and totally discarded the entry. We do not tolerate bullying of any kind, that is why we had implications in place such as censoring individuals in the pictures at their request.
Believe it or not we had very little images asked to be removed. If someone was unhappy with a picture we uploaded, regardless if it’s the owner of the picture or not, we took action and removed the picture if necessary, we don’t do this anymore since it attracted too much hatred and there are plenty of copycats out there now, some are actually taken credit for my silly idea, but life goes on.
How controversial was our site and facebook/twitter page? Most pictures are from people wanting to have their 5 minutes of fame on the internet. You could also question, why with all the media hype about Snapchat being leaked are people still happy to use the app to send what are considered personal snaps to other people knowing full well they have the potential to be leaked. Any image can be leaked. While we have taken the moral decision to no longer post any SnapChat photo, there are still lots of other leaked websites and facebook/twitter copycats out there where your personal snaps are on view to the public across the world.
Another thing that is annoying. The media are portraying us in a different light that we were obtaining access to deleted photos, that certainly is not the case; they’re user submitted photos, period.
